The mission of the Good Hope MBC Donna Wiley Scholarship Fund/Education Committee is to honor the legacy of Donna Anderson-Wiley by empowering and supporting the educational
aspirations of our church’s youth. We aim to provide financial assistance and foster academic success for dedicated active members pursuing higher education. Through this scholarship fund, we strive to embody God’s grace by investing in the future leaders of our community.
Recipent Qualifications:
- 1. Be an active member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church for 6 months
2. Verify enrollment as a full-time student
Scholarship recipients are eligible for 8 semesters (4 years) of disbursement. We are currently accepting donations on an ongoing basis. Scholarship envelopes can be found in the church foyer.
Purpose
Our purpose is to create a legacy of educational empowerment within the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church community. We envision a future where every deserving and committed young
member has the opportunity to access higher education, regardless of financial constraints. By nurturing a culture of learning, faith, and service, we aim to inspire academic excellence,
personal growth, and a lifelong commitment to both education and the church’s values. Ultimately, we envision graduates equipped to positively impact their communities and the
world, carrying forth Donna Wiley’s spirit of resilience, dedication, and faith.
Donna Anderson-Wiley
Donna Anderson-Wiley was born on February 13, 1963 in Georgetown, Texas to R.Z. and Ruth Anderson. She joined Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and became an active participant in the youth department and Sunday School. She could always be found in the kitchen helping to prepare food for any church event.
Donna was a single mother of three children. After graduating from Georgetown High School, she pursued a higher education by enrolling at Temple Junior College. She believed education was important. Her daughter Shymetria attended Austin Community College. Donna also has two sons. Chauncey is a graduate of Prairie View A&M University and Darrius served in the U.S. Army.
At the young age of 32, Donna became ill with Severe Aplastic-Anemia and passed away on June 4, 1995. In her honor, Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church established the Donna Wiley Scholarship Fund.
